Clinical Supervision Resources for LPC, LCSW, LCPC, and LMHC Supervisors

Are you a newly approved clinical supervisor looking for guidance beyond your initial supervisor certification training? Have you been providing clinical supervision for years but want additional tools, resources, and structure to help your residents and supervisees successfully achieve licensure?

Many supervisors find themselves asking the same questions:

  • What should I be teaching in supervision?

  • How do I structure supervision sessions effectively?

  • What documentation and paperwork should I be using?

  • How can I support supervisees from the beginning of residency through licensure?

  • Where can I find practical clinical supervision resources without spending hours creating them myself?

Whether you are supervising LPC Residents, LCSW Supervisees, LCPC Candidates, or LMHC Associates, having a structured supervision process can make all the difference in developing competent, ethical, and confident clinicians.

Welcome to Supervision Excellence

Supervisor training programs provide the foundational requirements for becoming an approved supervisor, however, Kristi and I found a distinct lack in what to do after. Supervision Excellence was founded to fill the gap between when your supervision training ends and where boots on the ground supervision begins. I found myself with so many questions about how to effectively guide residents through professional development, documentation, ethics, multicultural competency, and licensure preparation.

Our mission is simple: to equip supervisors with the toolkit they need to provide quality clinical supervision that develops quality clinicians.

A Comprehensive Clinical Supervision Toolkit

Supervision Excellence has developed a comprehensive supervision curriculum designed specifically for mental health supervisors. Our toolkit offers a full guide to building a therapist through from graduate school to licensure. Each Quarter is broken up into 5-6 modules that can be extended through the years of residency to successful licensure.

Organized by quarter, the curriculum provides a clear roadmap for supervision topics, competencies, and professional growth milestones.

Topics include:

Quarter 1: Foundations of Clinical Practice

  • Conducting supervision intakes

  • Establishing expectations and goals

  • Documentation fundamentals

  • Treatment Planning and Discharge Planning

Quarter 2: Treatment Planning and Clinical Skills

  • Case Conceptualization

  • Documentation

  • Self Disclosure

  • Licensure Exam Preparation

Quarter 3: Multicultural Competence and Professional Growth

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical practice

  • Challenging clinical presentations

  • Professional identification

Quarter 4: Advanced Practice and Licensure Preparation

  • Self Care

  • Mandated Reporting

  • Vicarious Trauma

  • Test-taking strategies and career planning
